I ran across some good reading online at Organic Gardening Magazine:
It was about a year ago when we moved into our house, and it was around June 15th when the garden went in. I did not have any plants in the ground a year ago, and was well over two months away from a fresh tomato.
Not so in 2009.
I have a number of tomato plants in the ground- 4 in my SFG boxes, and two more in the traditional garden. I am also planning to plant a few more in late July to take me all the way to frost.
Tomatoes are the most planted garden crop across the USA, and there are more tomato seedlings sold in garden centers than any other vegetable plant. I’ll bet you have yours planted.
Here’s an article from Mother Earth News that is good reading, and good information:
A magazine that I always pick up at the library is Organic Gardening. Though I don’t follow strict organic principles, but think that the principles of building healthy soil, creating an environment that deters pests, and being a good steward of the earth are worthy intentions in every garden.
This magazine always has some good hints and excellent articles. They also have an excellent collection of online articles.
